Hi Sarah,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hey there - I tried to add the McCarthy Tartan as the image for the McCarthy ONS sticker, but the substitute isn't working. Any ideas? I did it the exact same way as I did for my Dubreuil study.

  • Nevermind, I figured it out. If you add a category to it, it WILL NOT WORK.

Cousin Sarah,

The help pages seem to point to you in regards to adding a clan tartan. If not, maybe you can forward this to the right person. . . .

I am trying to get the Kinnaird tartan added (see: https://tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails?ref=1991) I hear from some that Kinnaird and Kinnear are essentially the same family group but there are two distinct teams here at WT and it seems that there are two distinct tartans.

Thanks in advance for whatever you can do!

Hi Sarah,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.

  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Hi Sarah! It's that time again!

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

The following is the planned message to go out to the TT members today:

We want to thank you very much for your participation in this weekend's Clean-a-thon! Your 556 contributions helped bring our team to almost 7000 corrections made, which is an amazing number for a small team. As a token of thanks for helping our team, please feel free to add this participation sticker to your profile (as always, below the Biography line). You'll need to add curly brackets/braces { like these, but doubled } around the following template:

If you enjoyed working to make repairs like these, please consider joining the Data Doctors Project, a group of members who work on these improvements on an ongoing basis.

My ties to it are purely from a pre-project phase many moons ago as an arborist, beginning with Pocahontas, cleaning up and merges. I wish I could help it more but no way do I have the resources nor research experience in that terrain.

We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Hello Cousin Sarah

Sarah and Janine are 19th cousins, through John Savage IV.

Janine

Congratulations on being selected as a featured Wikitree member on the meet our members page. I really like this page because I not only see it as an honor, but it is an excellent way of being introduced to a fellow Wikitreer.

Since we are all here for genealogy, I also enjoy the section where someone shares who their favorite ancestors are and why someone is their favorite ancestor. I can see why you chose Susannah (Burnet) Moseley (1595 - 1655). She sounds like an amazing woman. I especially enjoyed reading about her because she immigrated to America from the Netherlands and as often was the case with immigrants from Holland during that era, they often came to America because America served as a sanctuary when people in Europe were being persecuted for their religious views.

That is what makes America so special since it welcomed such special people as your ancestor. It sounds like Susannah was quite a remarkable woman and the documentation found supports a conclusion she was "ahead of her time".

John Williams

P. S. According to this link, we are 10th cousins three times removed. Our MRCA is Christopher Branch, Sr. (1602 - 1681) who is the 2x Ggf of President Thomas Jefferson who is our cousin.

Hi,

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their followed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any discussions in G2G.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you know that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!

Hi Sarah you posted, "I have several ancestors I think might qualify for this. How do I get started? "

Send me the WikiTree ID of the profile that you want to be your Pioneer Ancestor. This should be someone whose descendants moved westward after the American Revolution into the territories that later became what became the southern states of the US. The distance between you and this ancestor should be about 7-8 generations. Once I've had a chance to look at the profile and run the "Pioneer Trail" we will be able to determine the next steps to take. I will add your trail to the Tracking Log where you will be able to track progress. You do not need to enter anything on that page.

Any other questions? Feel free to contact me. Glad to have you join in.
