From his son Marshall's Obit: "...in Pickens, a son of the late Ephraim M. Massingale and Mandy Freeman Massingale." "...two sisters and four brothers as follows: Mrs. Sarah Jane Clark, Pickens; Mrs. G. T. Hammonds, Greenville; Joe Massingale and Ephraim Massingale, of Pickens; John Massingale, Cornelia, Ga. and Daniel Massingale, Greenville."

He is mentioned in the 1934 Death Certificate of his son Joseph.^[5]
