Biography

According to Michael's estimated age, there is room for a likely first marriage and family before marrying Mary McKee. Also, Mary, whose first husband was John Long, may possibly have brought young children into the marriage. These possibilities need to be further explored.

From 1799 until 1810 Michael and Isaiah, his probable brother, appear on the tax lists of Hardin Co. Ky. It appears that from approximately that time Isaiah's sons Joshua and Daniel moved on, Joshua to Indiana and Daniel to the War of 1812.. Isaiah remains on the tax rolls until 1813. Michael remains on the Kentucky rolls into the 1820's. It seems that after the War of 1812, Daniel joined Joshua in Owen Co., Indiana, moved into Illinois in the 1820's, settling for a time in Schuyler Co., where they were again joined by Michael and his family. The Schuyler Co History says Michael was here by 1829 or 30, when he and James mcKee made improvements to Section 21, Littleton Twp. The Sewards, Tullises, McKees, Wycoffs were all part of this early migration.

Michael probably died in the household of his youngest son Alexander, in McDonough Co IL.
