  • First-hand information. Entered by Rachel Mathews-McKay at registration. As a young child my parents and grandparents sparked my interest in our family history's. Coming from a very mixed heritage I have always been curious about where I came from, who we were and how our lives impacted our communities. Emigration featured heavily in every generation on both sides of my lines. Spanning from Africa to Jamaica, Ireland to Bermuda, Britain to Canada and more. DNA testing has expanded those lists and destinations and now more than ever I feverishly search for answers, clues, facts and verification's, piecing together a clearer picture of what is a very colorful and large family map.

Hi again Rachel,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you recently created a profile for a pre-1700 ancestor.

There have been some updates to the Pre-1700 Profile help page and the Pre-1700 Quiz since you took it in September 2018. Please review both and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You will notice that the wording has been modified to more fully explain the sourcing needed for pre-1700 profiles.

The Pre-1500 Reliable Sources page has some comments regarding the reliability of the Stirnet website and recommends looking for the sources behind the records.

Thanks,

Debi

Hi Rachel,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

The Scotland Project might be a good fit based your current contributions to the WikiTree. Review the project page for resources and special guidelines as well as to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)
