Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1806. Elizabeth Matthews married William Semones Jr. on Juy 15, 1824 in Franklin, Virginia.^[1] They are listed together on both: the 1850 Census^[2] and the 1860 Census^[3] in Carroll, Virginia. Her husband passed away in 1869 and she is listed as widowed on both: the 1870 Census^[4] and the 1880 Census.^[5] She passed away in 1884 at the age of 78 and is buried in Hardy-Jenkins Cemetery in Carroll County, Virginia. ^[6]

Eliza and William Semones had at least ten children (all five of their sons that lived to adulthood served in the Civil War):
