Joe L. Mayfield, 86. passed away Friday June 15, 2012 at the V.A. Nursing Home in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held Sun. June 17, 2012 from 6pm-8pm. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm. Mon. June 18, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Lakewood South Cemetery.

Mr. Mayfield was born in Mize, MS and has lived in the Metro area most of his life. He was a member of Sky Hills Baptist Church in Pearl, MS and was also a Masonic and York Rite Mason. Mr. Mayfield was a WWII veteran in the 69th Infantry of the 3rd Army. He retired as a 1st Sergeant with the Mississippi Army National Guard.

Mr. Mayfield is survived by his two sons, Joe W. Mayfield (Nita) and Jolly Mayfield (Donna) both of Brandon, MS; two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy of Magee, MS and LaVonne O'Neal of Madison, MS; three grandchildren, Micah, Chad and Blake Mayfield all of Brandon, MS and one great-grandchild, Hunter Mayfield of Brandon, MS. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mayfield and his parents James and Lilly Mayfield of Magee, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Atten: Memorial Honor Program-1 St. Jude Place, P.O. Box 1000-Dept. 300-Memphis, TN 38148-0552. [1]
