Biography

William Maynard was born about 1745 in the Province of North Carolina in the area which eventually became Johnston County and then Wake County.^[1] He was the son of William Maynard and Agatha Damron. He passed away about 1833. ^[2]

It is unlikely William's son William was the son of Agatha Dameron because the son William married Agatha Dameron's sister Elizabeth Dameron and it is unlikely that he married his aunt. Consequently, Agatha Dameron was not the mother of William's son William. His mother's name was Frances. This suggests the father William was previously married to another woman before he was married to Aggie who was referred to as his "last wife" in his will which indicates he was married previously to someone else before he married Aggie. Many sources have identified Aggie as Agatha Owl who was previously married to Moses Dameron.
