According to early tax lists, In 1799, Isaac lived in Grainger County, Tennessee.[3]
Isaac was living at Burksville, Cumberland, Kentucky during the 1810 census.[4] Isaac was living at Cumberland County, Kentucky during the 1820 census.[5] Isaac was living at North of Cumberland River, Cumberland County, Kentucky during the 1830 census.[6] Isaac was living at Cumberland County, Kentucky during the 1840 census.[7]
Isaac McBee moved from Greene to Grainger County in 1796.
Gwen Bjorkman has pension papers for Isaac McBee - I cannot find them on Heritage Quest. He stated he was born 13 Feb 1764, Halifax Co VA and was drafted for 3 months in Greene Co North Carolina. in 1780 in Capt Neely Newman's Co. Regt of Col. John Sevier. He was drafted again in 1781, same county and captain. In April 1783 he was ordered out again as a spy with Robert Bean in Capt Benjamin Clark's Company. After the War, he moved to Washington Co NC [Tennessee]; then to Hawkins Co until 1803 when he moved to Kentucky and settled in Cumberland Co. His application for pension was taken at Burksville, NC, 17 Oct 1840 by M. King.
Follow up to above note
I did find the Pension application on Footnote. The file plainly said "McBee" but then it was indexed as "Isaac Mac Bee". File R- 6587 [Rejected]. He was age 76 when he applied. [He would have been age 16 - the minimum age for a soldier - in 1780.] No reason is given for the rejection. He described the three tours of duty as above. A clergyman and three friends testified to his veracity - the officers were all dead and he knew of no one who could testify. I wonder if it was in part due to the confusion of locations. Both Greene Co and Washington Co which are now in Tennessee were at the time of the Revolution part of North Carolina and his father left records in both places. In the application, McBee does refer to both as being in North Carolina - Greene County was actually not formed out of Washington Co until 1783, so he likely was not drafted from a place called Greene County in 1781. Later, in 1799, Glasgow County in North Carolina was renamed to Greene County.
