Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" McChesney[1][2][3][4] was born on 08 Feb 1806 in Virginia,[5] one of sixteen children and nine daughters of James McChesney, Sr.. She was probably the daughter (the second daughter) of his possible third wife, Charlotte Berry.
On 1 September 1825 when she was nineteen years old, she married William Walker Anderson, a native of Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virgina.
Apparently they had moved to Maryville, Blount Count, Tennessee, and later lived in Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee, where William "ran a general merchandise business and drove horses through the Cherokee Nation to Georgia and Alabama. By 1840, they had moved to Chattanooga., where William and Elizabeth founded the Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, in which William was elected a ruling elder.
Eizabeth bore William four children, two sons and two daughters, before she died on 12 December 1840 from "a late summer epidemic of “fever chills.”[6][7][8][9]
She was buried in Citizens Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee.[10]
