Bertha Naomi McCoy was born at Greeneville, Tennessee on 20 April 1909, daughter of Charles and Julia Bell (Davis) McCoy.^[1] She died at Valrico, Hillsborough, Florida, 23 May 2003.^[2]

She married at Greene, Tennessee, 30 Jun 1930, Melvin Virgil Stills, born at Greeneville, Greene, Tennesse, 2 Feb 1902 and died at Crystal Lake, Polk, Florida, 16 Aug 1978, son of Smith Alexander Stills and Izar Della Lowery.^{[citation needed]}

Homemaker LAKELAND -- Mrs. Bertha N. Stills of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (May 23, 2003) at Tandem Healthcare, Brandon. She was 94.Born April 20, 1909, in Greenville, Tenn., she came here from Greenville in 1955. She was a homemaker.Mrs. Stills was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Stills. She is survived by her son, Ross Stills, Valrico, Maynard Stills, Evergreen, Colo.; daughters, Della Elva Bledsoe, Plant City, Elizabeth McClain, Winter Haven; sister, Sally Kate Jacobs, Lakeland; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lanier Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
