Biography

Nathaniel Byrd wife full maiden name was Pearl Flora McDONALD. She is shown in some of the oldest documents as P. Flora Byrd. Flora was born between 1768 - 1770 in South Carolina and died about 1842 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Ronald McDonald.

After the death of Nathaniel Byrd, Flora married Jacob Barr. Nathaniel Byrd, Flora and Reverend Jacob Barr were probably buried at Byrd Cemetery near Branchville, South Carolina. They have no markers that have survived.

Flora's second husband was Reverend Jacob Barr ( 1753 -- June 15, 1823 whom she married in 1820. One ofthe documents preserved by Marion A. Byrd and his family shows that Flora, as Mrs Flora Bars, contracted Frederick H. Barsh to work for her for 15 days in September and October of 1841. This debt was reviewed by B. Buzbee, Magistrate, on March 15, 1843 and paid by Nathaniel Byrd III, Flora's son, on August 31, 1843. This document allows us to estimate the year of Flora death as 1842.
