This is a bio on William Jonathan McIntosh who married Mary Catherine MOORE on 1/9/1799 in Mercer Co, KY.

William Jonathan McIntosh was born in Virginia 3/ November 1776, he was the son of William and Delilah Shaw McIntosh. His father was born in Scotland 6 May 1745 and his mother was born in Virginia 8 August 1747, she was the daughter of John West and Nancy Proctor Shaw.

William and Delilah Shaw McIntosh were married in Augusta Co, VA 26 December 1765.

William McIntosh served in the Rev. War for a period of seven years, after his discharge, he received bounty land in Kentucky, where he lived as a father until his death in 1836. Children born to William and Delilah McIntosh were: Joseph, Daniel, Peter, William Jonathan, Betsy, John West, Jacob, Nancy, Delilah.

William Jonathan McIntosh Jr. was married in Mercer County Kentucky 24 September 1799 to Mary Catherine Moore, daughter of Austin and Mary Moore. William Jonathan bought land from his father in Bath Co, Kentucky and also received a Gov. Grant for improving the land.

Children born to William Jonathan and Mary Catherine McIntosh were: Male MOORE, who married Polly Evans, Sally, who married John Johnson, William Jefferson, who married Sarah Negleg, Joseph, who married Elizabeth Todd, Mary Pollyanna who married Alan Kelly, Fatty, who married Robert Light, Jacob, who married Sarah McDonald, Nancy, who married Joseph Osborn, Elizabeth, who married tyre Laffoon, Dilly Ann, who marriage is unknown.

During the year of 1821, William Jonathan and Mary C. McIntosh sold their land in Bath Co, KY to thomas Moore, brother of Mary Catherine Moore McIntosh, loaded all of the belongings on a Pirogue or flatboat and headed down the Licking River to the Ohio, to the Wabash, to White River, where the first settled in Green Co, Indiana.

In the year of 1823, Mary C. McIntosh died and was buried at the village of Catvertville, Indiana.

On 24 March 1824, William Jonathan Moore was married to Sarah Ooley Tiffy, widow of Charles Tiffy.

On September 5 in 1838, William and Sarah gained title by patent to 80 acres of land in Jackson Township of Clay Co, Indiana, this was located northeast of Asherville.

Children born to William Jonathan and Sarah McIntosh were, Lucinda McIntosh who married Thomas Riddell, Dorina McIntosh who was married to David Moore, Catherine McIntosh who married William Kelly and Rebecca McIntosh who married George W. France.

William Jonathan McIntosh died in Clay Co, Indiana in 1851 in is buried in the Rhule Cemetery, Posey Township, Clay County, Indiana.

Sarah McIntosh died in Clay Co, Indiana in 1860 and is buried in the Union Cemetery in Jackson Township.

William Jonathan McIntosh served in the KY Militia before leaving KY in 1821. He served as Justice of the Peace in both Clay and Greene Counties, Indiana. Many of his descendants still reside in Clay County and surrounding area. The Riddell National Band was first founded by a descendant of Thomas and Lucinda McIntosh Riddell.

William Jonathan McIntosh was a Baptist Minister as were two of his sons, William Jefferson McIntosh and Moore McIntosh.

The McIntosh family being of Scottish descent were a very close knit family. McIntosh descendants still reside on the first property purchased in Greene Co, Indian, the land has never been sold to anyone out of the McIntosh Family.
