DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
I have done considerable research on the McKnight line. There were two William McKnight living in Rowan County, North Carolina about 1755. I spent a lot of time trying to separate the two families using land records and tax records. I am willing to share what I have found. The David McKnight who have with William McKnight who died in 1759 is not the right William McKnight. His father died much later. David came with his two brother James and William to Middle Tennessee about 1803.
