Biography

In the 1881 census James (age 3) was the son of William McLaren in Tayfield Cottages, Forgan, Fife.[1]

In the 1891 census James (age 13) was the son of Wm McLaren in Boat Brae, Forgan, Fife. He was a Scholar.[2]

James McLaren, age 18, enlisted in 1895. He was in the Gordon High Regiment. (service number 5356).[3]

James Mclaren was Lance Corporal, serving with Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) in the military and died on 22 Dec 1915 . Their service number was 7471.[4]
