David McSwain was a North Carolina colonist.

David McSwain was born about 1700 on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He married Margaret Etta Sargeant about 1723 in Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Skye, Scotland

David and Margaret sailed to America in 1731 on the Snow Lowther from Isle of Skye, Scotland landing in Pennsylvania October 14, 1731. They had at least one son, William David McSwain, who was born on board during the trip.

Like many early pioneers seeking religious freedom and land, David and his family migrated down the Great Wagon Trail to North Carolina. He is the progenitor of the Southern McSwains.

Smoky Mountains, North Carolina

David died 1770 in Cleveland, Rutherford, North Carolina Colony. He was buried at the McSwain Cemetery in Shelby, Cleveland County, North Carolina, USA[1]

Anybody have some definitive answers about children of this couple? Because we have too many Davids up there, seems to me...
Project Protected due to multiple duplicates and problems with proposed merges between generations. Important project profile.

Hi there, Susie here, Co-Leader of the Scotland Project. I've edited the place name category Skye, Scotland as the categories are organised by parish. I've put it in the unknown Inverness-shire category because it will be flagged by the team as a priority to try to find the parish. Thanks all!

They are not on the list for the Snow Lowther. There was an alternate DOB of 1734

Scots often went to Ireland either banished from England or to escape or work for some lord. This profile and the decendants are in the correct order, at least untill better documentation becomes available. Eric
