Malissa was born about 1835 in Jackson County, Tennessee. [1] Her parents were Charles Meador and his wife Rachel, whose maiden name is yet unknown. [2]
About the year 1853 Malissa married Elijah Allen. They became the parents of four children, Thomas, Mariah, John, and Elizabeth.[3][4]
The family can be found in the 1860 census of Jackson County, Tennessee [5]
Malissa died sometime between 1864 when daughter Elizabeth was born, and 1870 when Elijah is found with his second wife Penelope in Barren County, Kentucky census records. [6]
