Biography

John Meador was born about 1779 in Bedford County, the son of Joel Meador and Susanna Clark.

John was mentioned in his father's will of 1788 and was given 200 acres of land by that will. He died intestate in Franklin Co. shortly before October 1810.

Marriage

John married Nancy Clark, daughter of a Susannah Clark on 2 Dec 1805 in Franklin County, Virginia. Surety was given by Joel Meador.[1][2]

Research Notes

  • In the 1810 Census, John may be living next to Susannah Clark, his mother-in-law. At the time of the Census, no son was listed, so if this is John Meador, Sr. as indicated in the settlement of his estate, John Jr. may have been born after the census was taken.[3]
