Biography

Elizabeth Meadows was born about 1796. She was age 54 in the 1850 census for Cabell County, Virginia. [1]

She would be one of the five young females listed in the household of Matthias Meadows in 1810 census for Kanawha County, Virginia. [2]

William Adkeson and Elizabeth Meadows were married 15 Aug 1815 in Monroe County, Virginia.

In the 1860 census [1] Elizabeth was age 64 and living in the household of Wm Adkins. [3]

DNA

The WikiTree Relationship Finder shows Connie Graves and Barbara Treichel are fourth cousins twice removed. Their most recent common ancestor is Mathias Meadows. This has been proven with DNA matches on Gedmatch between T402351 Connie Daniels Graves and A938670 Barbara Pennington Treichel on Chromosome 23, the X Chromosome, for one segment at 82,236,712 - 92,458,208 for 8.2 cm and 698 SNPs. In addition Gedmatch shows autosomal matches for them on two chromosomes with the largest segment 36.4 cm and the MRCA 4.1. The matches are:

  • Chromosome 7 at 86,213,546 - 100,865,084 for 12.1 cm and 2964 SNPs
  • Chromosome 13 at 71,009,927 - 102,155,537 for 36.4 cm and 7522SNPs

An additional match is found on My Heritage. Paternal DNA match on My Heritage between McKinley Gooch Lilly III and Connie Daniels Graves on Chromosome 10 at location 92,263,377 to 118,998,934 for 25.94 cM. Wikitree relationship finder shows they are fourth cousins once removed. MRCA's William Adkins Sr. and Elizabeth Meadows.

Thanks Harry, will have to try and track down more about Rebecca. Seems like a very good clue.
I have read a comment (somewhere?) that Rebecca Meadows, who married William Scires in Monroe Co., VA in 1827, might be a daughter. I have a copy of their marriage permission but Matthias is not mentioned. A William Sieres and a Rebecca are living in Braxton, Co. in 1850.
