Biography

Andrew Job Means was born on June 15, 1837. Find a grave lists this date as does a Means family genealogy site but I can't find a good cite for this [1]

The Daily Ardmoreite has an obit for Andrew. The date of the obit is July 14, 1914 and is the date of death. The obit says Andrew was 81 years old giving him a date of birth of 1934. This DOB is probably incorrect.[2]

On Sep. 17, 1857, Andrew married Martha Evans in Nacogdoches, Texas.[3]

In 1870, Andrew lived with his wife and children in Sandie Mountain, TX.[4]

  • Source: S98 1900 United States Federal Census Publication: Name: MyHeritage; NOTEFederal census takers were asked to record information about every person who was in each household on the census day. A census taker might have visited a house on a later date, but the information he collected was supposed to be about the people who were in the house on the census day. The basic census enumeration unit was the county. Each county was divided into enumeration districts, one for each enumerator. The completed forms were sent to the Commerce Department's Census Office in Washington, D.C.Federal censuses are usually reliable, depending on the knowledge of the informant and the care of the census enumerator. Information may have been given to a census taker by any member of the family or by a neighbor. Some information may have been incorrect or deliberately falsified.

Means-2 and Means-41 appear to represent the same person because: I am quite sure this is a duplication.
