Biography

Mordecai was a Friend (Quaker)

An abstract of Mordecai's will shows: 1. Pay all debts. 2. Wife, Phoebe, receives two beds, two spinning wheels, reel, cupboard and ware, pot, Dutch oven, skillet, brass kettle, three chairs, chest and flax hackle, smoothing iron, wire sieve and fire shovel, cow, horse and saddle, half the orchard and a comfortable support while living or his widow. 3. Daughter, Hannah, receives $20. 4. Daughter, Susannah, receives $1. 5. Son, Robert, receives $1. 6. Son, Aaron, receives $1. 7. Son, Stephen, receives $5. 8. Son, John, receives $114. 9. Daughter, Phoebe, receives loom and $12 and a living with her mother while single. 10. Any remainder to be divided equally among all heirs. 11. Dated 24 Feb 1835.
