George Spier Mentiplay was born on August 28, 1877 in Frankston, Colony of Victoria, son of David Mentiplay (1841–1917) and Isabella Falconer (1840–1927).^[1]

George (62) married Muriel Gourley (49) (born in 1890 in South Melbourne, Victoria) in 1940 in Victoria.^[2] Their daughter was Betsy Muriel Mentiplay (1919–2007).
