Oliver Burgess Meredith was born on November 16, 1907 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, son of George William Meredith (~1861–>1921) and Ida Beth Burgess (~1862– ).^[1] He was known professionally as Burgess Meredith, an American actor in theatre, film, and television, who also worked as a director. Active for more than six decades, Meredith was a life member of The Actors Studio, who won several Emmys, was the first male actor to win the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor twice, and was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Burgess (42) married Kaja Sundsten (19) (born on January 7, 1930 in Douglas Park, Del Norte, California) in 1950. They had two children.

Burgess died on September 9, 1997 in Malibu, California, United States, aged 89, from complications of Alzheimer's disease and melanoma. He was cremated and his ashes were given to family. ^{[7] [8] [9]}
