Biography

When Benjamin Smith Merrell was born on April 18, 1792, in Sparta, Georgia, his father, John, was 41 and his mother, Mary, was 39. He married Martha 'Patsy' Chandler on February 28, 1813. They had ten children in 23 years. He died on September 25, 1853, in Carrollton, Georgia, at the age of 61, and was buried there.
