Biography

Joseph Merriam was born on March 3, 1696 or 97[1], the son of son of Robert and Abigail Cutler Merriam of Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts[2]

On 9 Oct, 1718[3] he married Mary Brewer, daughter of John Brewer Sr and Mary Jones, and they had children[1] [2] [4], including:

  2. Elizabeth I, b. 13 Jun 1721, Lexington, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, d. 26 Aug 1722, Lexington

  4. Abigail, b. Abt 1724, Lexington, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; who married Abraham Bradshaw and died in 1776 in Chester, Lunenburg Co, Nova Scotia, Canada

Joseph was the (a?) constable of Lexington in 1738 and "Tythingman" in 1941. He was also listed as an "ensign" of the town militia [no speciic dates]. Joseph Merriam died in Lexington 15 Nov 1745[5], and is buried in the Old Burying Ground
