No birth record for William Merryman has been found. He was likely born in Baltimore County around 1700. He was married to a woman name Margaret, the daughter of Dutton Lane. The marriage to Margaret Lane is proved by the will of her father who died in Anne Arundel County in 1726. He left her a legacy of a tract of land in Baltimore County called Hampton Court.[1] In 1740 50 acres of this tract was sold by William & Margaret Merryman to James Boreing. [2] On 11 July 1746 100 acres of "Hampton Court" was sold by William and Margaret Merryman and James Boring to Charles Ridgely.[3]
