Biography

Grace Vivian Merritt was born April 17, 1891 in Chatham to George Best Merritt and Elizabeth Jane Blackburn.^[1]

Grace Vivian Merritt married Richard Gamble Knight on May 12, 1920, at Chatham, Ontario. ^[2]

The couple would have one child, Catherine born December 31, 1923, while living in Canada. They would move to Michigan in October 1925 and their son, Richard Gamble was born November 29, 1926 in Flint, Michigan. They submitted a petition for naturalization in 1933 while residing on East Jefferson in Detroit where Richard Sr was a factory executive.^[3]

In 1940 Richard and Grace were renting a home on Oxford Street in Grosse Point Shores, Michigan. Richard was employed as a superintendent. They had two children: Catherine and Richard.^[4]

In 1986 Grace V Knight (nee Merritt), widow of Richard, was a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut. She died on December 20, 1986 in Stamford.^[5]
