to Illinois when about 15 years old; attended school at
Rock Island, 111.; worked at the carpenter's trade. His
home was in Moline, 111., from 1844 to 1853. He was
th'en on a farm at Mercer County, Illinois, for a few
years; then worked at his trade in Moline, 111., until

1872; then remained on the farm until 1883; after that he lived in Denver, Col. His was truly an honorable and successful life, in which he won the love and respect of all who knew him. M.
