Biography

Daniel was born on or before 1775, in Bradford, Vermont (then known as Mooretown, New York). He was the eighth child and youngest son of Hugh Miller and Mary Rogers. He is almost certainly one of the two males 16-25 recorded on his father's homestead on the 1800 census.[1]

Daniel joined his parents and siblings in their migration from Bradford to settle in Richford, Vermont in 1795.

On March 5, 1801, Daniel married Anna Powell in Richford, Vermont[2]. She was the daughter of Rowland Powell and Mary Janes[3]. Both the Powell and Janes families were among the earliest settlers of Richford and were on the 1800 Richford census.

Daniel and Anna had the following known children, all born in Richford[4]:

  1. Martha Patty b. 28 May 1802; m. Cyrus M. Davis
  2. Anna b. 16 Sept. 1803
  3. Fanny b. abt. 1805
  4. Marvin b. 13 Aug. 1807
  5. Madison Bonapart b. 14 March 1809.

He passed away in 1810, due to the effects of an affray in connection with the Customs House in Hyde Park, Vermont[5][6]. Daniel had been a Customer officer. Anna remarried Daniel Cheney (1818).
