Biography

Joseph was born in 1762. He passed away in 1840. 5th son of “Wounded John”; born in Berks Co., PA after coming with parents to Somerset Co., PA, lived with parents and family in Elklick Twp.; spent some time in the Glades. Christian and Joseph began to develop father’s tract in Brothers Valley. ; Married Barbara Speicher

Wife died after bearing 6 children

Married Barbara Bontrager

Left the Glades and moved north; issued plot in Jenner Twp. on Quemahoning Creek, at the extreme south of Jenner Twp., so close to Conemaugh Twp. that part of property was across the line; not far from Stanton Mills

Had 5 more children who grew up on Jenner Twp. farm

All 5 of Joseph and Barbara’s children moved to LaGrange Co., IN

Soon after 1900, dam built over the Quemahoning River; town of New Stanton, small Brethren church, homestead farm of Joseph and Barbara, and, undoubtedly, their graves at the bottom of the reservoir

Joseph was the sixth child of eleven children born to John "Hannes" (Indian John) Miller, Sr. and Magdalena Lehman. He married Barbara Speicher (daughter of Christian Speicher, Sr.) and they had five children:

His wife died and Joseph then married Barbara Bontrager (daughter of John Bontrager) and they also had five children:

I adopted this profile when I saw it had no manager
Miller-6878 and Miller-654 do not represent the same person because: The Joseph Miller's appear to be from different parents, the date's of birth are also different. Also the spouse's are different.

Miller-6878 and Miller-654 appear to represent the same person because: These likely represent the same son of Johannes Miller and Magdelina Lehman. The mother (Mary Shaw of Richland Meeting) listed on -6878 was married to Robert Miller DAR ancestor #A132246, not Johannes, evidenced by Samuel Shaw's Will (link on profile of Mary Shaw.
