Biography

Erastus was born in 1795. He is the son of Elisha Miner and Eunice Capron. He is listed as a male under 10 years of age in the listing for his father Elisha "Minor" in the 1800 Census. His father died in 1801.

During the 1810 Census, seem to be living with Cyrus Capron (also of Clermont, Columbia County, New York), a brother of Eunice (Capron) Miner. His mother Eunice died in 1811. Will need to check 1820 Census, to see if Erastus and his two siblings might be living with Cyrus Capron in 1820.

He is apparently not the Erastus A. Miner of Bozrah who married Martha M. Burke of East Haddam, July 4, 1847.

Some have suggested he is the Erastus Miner who married a Margaret Siver, but that Erastus Miner was apparently born in 1796 and was son of Jesse Miner and Susan Roth.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Erastus by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line. Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Erastus:

Thanks for disconnecting the records. Hopefully, we'll find something at some point to shed some light.

Thanks, Kenneth. Here's the East Haddam Town Record V 3 p210:

"Martha M. of East Haddam m. Erastus A. Miner of Bozrah, July 4, 1847, by Rev. Isaac Parsons." What do you think?

Yes, in my latest comment below (posted yesterday) I included the weblink to that East Haddam record. However, I also posted the second weblink to a Bozrah town record, but it has a later date in 1847 and a different Reverend mentioned. I suspect that they were married in East Haddam on the earlier date in 1847, and then decided later in the year to have the marriage recorded in Bozrah as well. However, it is a bit confusing that the Bozrah record lists her as Matilda Buck instead of Martha Burke. Anyway, perhaps a profile should be created for the Erastus A. Miner (born 1824, Bozrah) with all this information and connecting that new profile to Martha Burke. I am disconnecting her from this Erastus Miner (born 1795).

Can anyone confirm whether this Erastus did marry Martha Burke? (1.27.22.)

UPDATE: Doing some more research, and Erastus A. Miner of Bozrah (who married in 1847) was supposedly born in 1824, Bozrah, Connecticut. So if this is a different Erastus Miner (and looks like it is a different Erastus), Martha Burke will need to be detached from this profile.

More information on Erastus Avery Miner (born 1824 at Bozrah, Connecticut), but calls her Matilda Buck, and marriage date and Reverend performing marriage seem to be different (in another source https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/518549:1062?tid=&pid=&queryId=8a35a2d9cb93e4645e4ab8f33f723017&_phsrc=IUP316&_phstart=successSource):
