    • It is unclear which man was the son of Phillip MInton and Levinia Watkins.
    • Philip Minton of Edmonson County reported in state of birth as Kentucky in 1850, but as Virginia in 1860. [2][3]
    • His son Hardin Perry Minton (abt.1836-) reported in the 1880 US Census that both his parents were born in Virginia. [4]
    • In 1850 Philip Minton (1793-1870) of Lincoln County, married to Polly, reported his place of birth as Virginia.
