Biography

Nancy E Mitchell was born about 1845. She was the daughter and 9 children of Charles Mitchell and Nancy McPherrin. She was age 5 living in the home of her parents, Charles and Nancy Mitchell in Anderson, Tennessee, in 1950.[1] Her parents and family migrated from Tennessee to Benton County, Arkansas. She was living with her parents in the 1860, in Sugar Creek Twp, Benton Arkansas, Post Office Pea Ridge, at the age of 15.[2]
She married John James Martin in 1865.[3] They had two children during their marriage.
  1. Samuel William Martin (1866-1895)
  2. Elner “Ella” (Martin) Hamman (1878-1915)
In 1870, At age 24, She and James-30. were living in Sugar Creek, Benton, Arkansas, with their son Samuel William Martin-4.[4] In 1880, at age 35, and James, age 37, they were living in Sugar Creek, Benton Arkansas with their two children, Samuel-14, and Elner-2, and Her Mother, Nancy Mitchel-76. who was also living with them.[5]
Her husband John James passed away in 1881 in Benton, Arkansas, at the age of 38. They had been married 16 years. [6]
Widowed she was living with her daughter Ella Hammand and husband, K C and children in 1900, in Sugar Creek Twp, 'Benton, Arkansas.[7]By 1910, They moved across the state line to Prarie, Mcdonald Co., Missouri, where She was living with them at that time.[8]
She died after 1915, as she applied at age 70, for Confederate Pension from her husband John James Martin.[6]
