Something is not right here. The Sir Richard Montagu/Montacute who died in June 1429 was the uncle, not younger brother, of Thomas Montagu, 4th Earl of Salisbury. His profile is De_MONTAGU-35. He died "without an heir of his body": see Inquests E-CIPM 23-396: RICHARD DE MONTE ACUTO.

I doubt Thomas, 4th Earl of Salisbury, was survived by his younger brother Richard or a nephew Edward. An inquest post mortem held after his death in November 1428 found that his nearest male heir was his 60-year-old uncle Sir Richard Montagu/Montacute: see Entail in Tail Male: The Earldom of Salisbury 1337-1428 and E-CIPM 23-263: THOMAS, EARL OF SALISBURY.

Hi I Speed, Thanks for your comments. I appreciate your research and questions. Richard (Montagu-33) is predicted to be my 16th great grandfather, but I have no guidance for you. I'd suggest working with Liz (Noland) Shifflett. She has been of great help to me previously. Go for it.

I don't know of a reliable source for Edward who appears in over a dozen family trees referenced on familysearch.

any details on a source for a son named Edward?

Change of death date from sourced "after 5 Jan 1400" to "about 1429" resolved the data warning messages.

De Montague-8 and Montagu-33 appear to represent the same person because: de Montague is incorrect LNAB per EuroAristo guidelines.
