Jimmy Carlton "Bud" Mood, 77, widower of Helen Jackson Mood, died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Henry Ashleigh and Virginia Sandel Mood. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sumter. He graduated from Edmunds High School and attended Clemson University and the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He was on the Elks Club Swim Team and played baseball and basketball in high school. He loved Clemson University, all sports, reading and spending time with his step-grandchildren.
Mr. Mood served in the United States Army and was based in Korea and Germany. He retired from Civil Service at Shaw Air Force Base.
He is survived by a brother, Robert A. "Bobby" Mood and his wife, Lynn, of Sumter; one stepson, Julian L. "Jule" Jackson III and his wife, Stacy, of Monroe, Ga.; two step-grandsons, JJ and Charles Jackson of Monroe, Ga.; a mother-in-law, Cleo Jackson of Horatio; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Somers of Atlanta; two uncles, Bill Sandel of Greenwood and Jack Sandel and his wife, Pat, of Missouri, Texas; one aunt, El Boyd of Myrtle Beach; two nieces, Jennifer Lynn Mood Pillsbury and Leigh Mood Benenhaley and her husband, Sonny, of Sumter; a cousin, Linda Hodges and her husband, Hank, of Murrells Inlet; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
