Biography

Christian H. Moomaw was born on 23 or 24 December 1803 in Botetourt County, Virginia,^[1], the third child and second son of Johan Christian and Catherine Snider Moomaw.

On 2 Sep 1830 in Botetourt County, he married Frances A. Noffsinger,^[2]The Rev. Joel Crumpacker performed the ceremony.^[3] by whom he had eleven children, four boys and seven girls. In the latter 1840s he moved by covered wagon to South Bend, Indiana.

Christian died on 31 Jan 1878 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, of "general disability"^[4][5][6]

It appears that at some point in time Martha's death was recorded as 1958 but should have been 1858. In 1934 I visited Christian's daughter, Elizabeth, in St Louis. She had married a John Truxell. Christian died in So Bend and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with his wife, Frances. If you would like a copy of their tombstone, send me your address.
