In 1871, JOEL AND SUSAN MOOMAW moved to West Lick area, 6 miles northwest of Laddonia, in Audrain Co, MO. He settled on some good farmland. (Audrain Co. is very big in soybean production in MO.) The house stands & is rented, but has not been family owned for many years. ADAM MOOMAW returned to live with his brother Joel just before his death in 1898; and SAM MOOMAW (Joel's son) & his family lived & farmed 1/2 mi away.
In 1898, JOEL & Susan MOOMAW moved about 2 miles southwest to live with their newly married daughter, Alice, and her husband, Rube BROWN, who had built a very large & beautiful new 2-story home with 6 bedrooms upstairs; however, JOEL MOOMAW only lived about another year.

(1) Re: 1871 move:
ALICE Brown's obituary in Mexico Ledger and the original written in Fannie May Brown Sonwalt's handwriting, BOTH said;
"ALICE moved to West Lick Community located 6 miles northwest of Laddonia when she was eight years old in 1871 with her parents & family."
THE LITTLEBY CHURCH RECORD BOOK LISTS ALICE MOOMAW'S name when the church was reorganized after the civil war; restarting July 26, 1870. I found her name toward the end of the 100 church members list, so 1871 would be about right. Joel and Susan MOOMAW were not listed.
(2) Re: JOEL'S brother, Adam:
Tom Moomaw said Adam returned to live with Joel just before his death in 1898.
(3) Re: MEXICO LEDGER, NOV.26, 1996.... NEWS...100 YEARS AGO:
"Thursday, On Thanksgiving evening...a double wedding took place at the residence of JOEL MOOMAW, near Wesley Chapel, Audrain Co. The high contracting parties were Mr. Reuben Brown and Miss ALICE MOOMAW, and Mr. JASPER MOOMAW and Miss Mary Brown. As the names would indicate it was a case of exchanging sisters." (Wesley Chapel Church was l mile west of the Joel Moomaw homeplace.) LILY MAY BROWN MOOMAW is buried at Littleby Baptist Church Cemetery with a very nicely engraved tombstome showing: MARY BROWN, wife of J.J. MOOMAW.
(4) Re: William MOOMAW.
It was recorded, April 20, 1988, in Audrain Co. by a surveyor; & is found in the Audrain Co.Public Library Cemetery Book. The Moomaw Cemetery can be found under M in "A listing of Audrain County Cemeteries."
"William J. Moomaw b. 26 Jun l867, d. 2 Jan., 1875, is buried in the fenced MOOMAW Cemetery located on west bank of Lick Creek, center of Section 8, T 52, R7, 60 yards west of Lick Creek. " (This was in a field
back of the Joel Moomaw farm and there is no road back to it. The surveyor noted there were other markers there to be identified & he named it the MOOMAW CEMETERY.)
