Biography

Mary Moon was born in 1833. She is the daughter of William Moon and Asaneth Anderson.

She never married and retained the last name Moon through her lifetime. She lived with her sister, Susannah Moon with her husband James Tunis Scott, Sr.^[1] Some, not all of Mary's children were James' children. She kept the Moon name for her children. ^[2][3]

Appears along with other siblings in the 1850 Census with their mother ("Ceane") in the home of their mother's second husband James Tunis Scott. The children of William Moon appear as Scotts in this census.

Susannah Moon and Mary Jane Moon, daughters of Aseneth, file quit claim deeds in 1851 and 1852 upon selling their portion of the land inherited after the death of her father. Susannah receives $225. The deeds are witnessed by James Tunis Scott.^[4][5]
