Biography

Herschel was born in 1882 in Iowa, the son of Uriah Moorman and Cynthia Hinshaw.^[1] By 1900 the family has relocated to Nebraska, where his father farmed and Herschel did farm labor.^[2] At the age of 22 Herschel married . In 1910 he was working for the railroad as a foreman. The census states he is married but does not list his wife.^[3] The 1921 Census of Canada shows Herschel (mis-transcribed as Hardial) Moorman, his wife Lenna Moorman, and their children Kenneth, Floyd, and Viola Moorman living and farming in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada.^[4]
