David was born on 11 March 1797[1] in Virginia, the sixth of twelve known children and the fourth of fifth sons of James Morgan and Margaret Jolliff Morgan.
He married [[Jolliffe-308 | Mary Jolliffe] at an unknown date and location.
In 1867 when he was about seventy, David died somewhere in Iowa,[3] of unknown causes.

David Morgan appears in the 1850 United States Federal Census as a 56-year-old farmer with $600 in real property living with his wife, Mary and four children, two sons and two daughters, and an unidentified 12-year-old white female.
