Harrison Ruffin Morris was born in 1809 in Mecklenburg Co, VA, son of Henry Morris & Lucy Drumright Morris. Harrison's grandfather was Jesse Morris, Sr. Harrison went by the nickname of Henry, which was his father's name. He was the oldest child. Harrison had several brothers who left Virginia and went to Missouri and scattered from there. One of his brothers was Sanford Morris, who ended up in Arkansas. Harrison moved to Texas. Harrison's son, John Henry Morris, married Nancy S. Burgess in 1857, and they had a son, Thomas Ruffin Morris, born 1858 in Lewisville, Lafayette County, Arkansas. John Henry Morris was killed in action in the Civil War in the Siege of Jackson, MS in July 1863, and Nancy married Richard Tillery. Nancy was was traveling to Arkansas to visit family in a wagon train when it was raided by Indians and she was killed about 1865. Nancy Morris Tillery had left her son, little Thomas Ruffin Morris, in the care of his paternal grandparents when she made the trip to Arkansas. "Tom" grew up with his grandparents, John's mother and father, Harrison Ruffin Morris & Martha Ann Cheatham Morris.
Harrison was born after 1807. He was the son of Henry Morris and Lucy Drumright. He passed away before 1900.[1]
