Eye[2] notes that Peter is reported to have come to Pendleton in 1789, and that all branches of the Moyer family in Pendleton believe that their forebears came there from Pennsylvania. One family member has a letter from an elderly relative which states that the family came originally to Pennsylvania from Germany in the 17th century. [It's not clear whether they really meant the 17th century, or whether they meant the 1700's.] There is nothing to confirm Peter's parents as John Peter Moyer and Dorothy Wagener. Descendants of Lewis (through multiple branches) assert that Lewis's father was not Peter, but was named Martin.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Peter by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Peter:
Regarding the marriage of Lewis Moyers, son of Peter. On page 265 of "A History of Pendleton County, West Virginia", by Oren Frederick Morton, it lists Lewis married Mary Rexroad.
Moyers-438 and Moyers-235 appear to represent the same person because: Peter Moyers and Peter Daniel Moyers are the same person, have the same parents, married to the same spouse, died the same year.
