Biography

Anna Mueck was probably born ca. 1657 at a place called Solmfeld near Strasburg. HZ Jones, in The Palatine Families of New York, (1986), p. 820 says that her father, Hans Jerg Mück was from Solmfeld, located "2 hours from Straßburg." But he was born in Kusterdingern. Kusterdingen in the Palatinate is also the home village of her husband and the site of her marriage.

Anna Mueck married Jacobus Schaeffer,((son of the deceased "Gerichtsverwandter (=local council), Conrad Schäfer,on 13 Jun 1683 in Kusterdingen. [1][2]

Anna Mueck died ca. 1709.

Notes

Many name variations in Anna's last name at birth Several of her children's baptismal record give her LNB as Mückin

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Anna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Anna:

last name as entered in baptism record for daughter Anna Barbara is Mückin
Jones says that Solmfeld was "2 hours from Straßburg." That's a big radius that includes Kusterdingen. There are no obvious Solmfeld place names between Strasburg and Kusterdingen, but I'll keep looking.

Most times locations from 1657 will not show up on present day Google maps. You must find maps from 1650s to know what the correct name is. Search something under old or ancient Maps.

I suspect that placing Solmfeld in Bavaria is an error. It is actually probably a neighborhood in Strasbourg,

Baden-Württemberg, which, when Anna was born, was in Germany. However, the borders have changed since then and Strasbourg is now in France.

The birth location of Solmfeld, Strassburg, Bayern, Germany does not produce a clear identification on Google Maps. Can anybody clarify where this is? Her husband was born in Kusterdingen, Tubingen, Baden-Wuerttemberg, which fits other info.

I am removing the death location of German, Chenango County, New York. It is clearly bogus -- possibly an auto-complete for "German" in somebody's family tree software. Chenango County wasn't settled by 1709, the town of German wasn't formed until 1796, and anyway I believe the first Palatines arrived in New York in 1710, not 1709.

It's likely that children are attached to the wrong parents. This is rampant among these first-wave Palatine immigrants to New York. One reason why I'm still hoping for action in response to http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/241867/seeking-project-protection-palatine-immigrant-unknown-origins (some Shaeffers for whom there is a good online source).

We need to sit down with Henry Z. Jones' book of "The Palatine Families of New York" to overcome the confusion with these families.

Now that the merge is complete, it looks like there are some issues with the children. The last two were born 66 years after the oldest child, and there appear to be some duplicates as well.

Also, there were four children born in 1689.

Could it be that some of these children are attached to the wrong parents??

Thanks!

Mueck-3 and Mueck-1 appear to represent the same person because: I'm not quite sure why these two were set as Rejected Matches, but they have the same birth and death dates and locations, so they need to be merged.

If there are discrepancies in any of the information, please start a "Research Notes" section in the Biography and make a note of them there.

Thanks so much!
