Biography

"Johann and Ida and their two eldest children, Carl Johann (Charlie) and Gustave Adolph were born in Ziegelscheuner Hauland Tirschtiegel Meseritz, Posen, Prussia. Maria Elydia and Edward Albert were born in Catasaugua, Pennsylvania. The remaining children who lived to adulthood: Emil Herman, John Ernst, John Gottfried, John Gottlieb, George Ferdinand and Elizabeth Anna, were born in Wells Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. There were three sons (names unknown) who died in childhood early in the family's history.

Johann and his brother William together came to this country in 1867, landing in New York. Ida and the two sons came about two or three years later. It is not known whether William's wife Pauline, came with them or at another time. William and Pauline had three children: Carl, Henry and Emma.

The Miller families lived in New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania before moving to Michigan where Johann homesteaded 80 acres in Wells Township in 1882. William and his family lived in Michigan for a short time, but moved on to Van Buren, Arkansas where they settled.

Johann Gottlieb Müller translated his name to John G. Miller after arriving in America. All oh his sons kept this spelling of the family name except Edward, who preferred Mueller as a translation of Müller." From The Family of Johann & Ida Müller 1837 to 1981 compiled July 1981 by J. Herbert Mueller (b. 1932)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
