Biography

Name

Many researchers refer to Catherina (Catherine) as "Mary Catherine." While that may be an accurate assumption, no known record documents it.

Birth

Catharina Mull, daughter of "Christopher Moll and wife," was baptized 20 May 1733 by Reverend John Peter Miller at New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, Philadelphia County (present-day Montgomery County), Pennsylvania. Witnesses were Jacob Fischer and wife. There is a conflict between Catharina's birth stated on the christening record and her tombstone (20 May versus 24 May). Possibly Reverend Hinke, the translator, misread the christening date on the original document; if not, the tombstone inscription is incorrect. Christopher (a.k.a. Christophel, Stoffle) Moll and wife Anna Catharina witnessed the 1736 baptism of Michael Moll's child named Johann Christophel, indicating that Christopher Moll's wife (the mother of Catharina) was named Anna Catharina.[1] Rev. Weiss listed those receiving their first Holy Communion during the years 1748-1761. His list includes "Catharina Moll" who may be the same person as Christopher Moll's daughter.[2] She would have been age fifteen in 1748.

Marriage

About 1749 Georg Weidner and Catharina Moll married at the New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, Philadelphia County (present-day Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County), Pennsylvania. Rev. Georg Michael Weiss presided.[3]

Death and Burial

Catherine (Mull) Whitener died 20 August 1804 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She is buried at Weidner-Robinson Cemetery, present-day Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.[4] The original tombstone is preserved at the Catawba County History Museum in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.

Mull-446 and Mull-7 appear to represent the same person because: I am out of town and cannot check my facts. If Kathy Sullivan approves, it is fine with me.

Mull-446 and Mull-7 are not ready to be merged because: These Profiles are not ready to be merged yet, because they do not contain the name of Lightfoot or any of the DNA Lightfoot matches that match her and her husband.

Mull-446 and Mull-7 appear to represent the same person because: These two profiles are obviously for the same person and should be merged. If there is a question of whether her birth date is May 24 or May 20, that can be discussed in the biography. If there is a question about her daughter's husband's name, that can be discussed at the time there is a merge proposed for the two profiles for the daughter. It is not a reason to delay this merge. I am re-proposing the merge.
