Elizabeth was born about 1792 on Norfolk Island. She was the daughter of Robert Nash and Ann Hannaway.
Elizabeth Nash married Bartholomew Reardon on 1 January 1812 in Hobart. [1]
"TO LET for such term of years as can be agreed upon, that Old Established BREWERY, at the Greenhills, situated on the Forcett Rivulet, where there is an abundant supply of excellent water at all seasons, and placed in the centre of the populous district of Sorell, where there are seven licensed houses; there is a neat Brick Cottage containing three rooms, and a detached kitchen, all nearly new, with two acres of land, more or less fenced round, attached to the brewery, with a garden. Immediate possession will be given upon the agreement being computed, and by personal application to the undersigned, one of her sons will point out the premises any day except Sunday. ELIZABETH REARDON. Greenhills, June 18th, 1866." [2]
Elizabeth died at the age of 86 years on 14 July 1878 at Forcett.[3]
"AN OLD COLONIST. One more has been added to the long list of departed old colonists by the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Reardon, at her homestead at the Green Hills, Forcett. The deceased arrived in Tasmania when quite a child. She was, I believe, the oldest inhabitant of Pittwater, and had more grandchildren and great grand-children than any other woman in Tasmania, her oldest daughter being 65, and her youngest daughter 51 years of age. Her husband (the late Bartholomew Reardon) died many years ago, but until lately the old lady lived on the picture of health and strength. For the past few months, however, the powers of nature have become gradually exhausted, and the old lady, known through-out Pittwater as " Granny Reardon," is now numbered with the dead. Her remains were interred in the Forcett Burial Ground on Thursday, the Rev. C. J. Brammall conducting the funeral service."[4]
