Edwin was born in 1858 in Drayton (which was then in New South Wales; Queensland did not become a separate colony until 1859.) He was the son of Thomas Neale and Alice Cater.[1][2]
On 25 December 1886, he married Rachel Ann Rooney.[2]
Edwin was a post office employee for some time. After moving to Ipswich in 1914, he worked for the Ipswich City Council.[3]
Edwin passed away in 1937, at 79 years, and is buried in the Ipswich cemetery.[2][3]
