to Bennington. Buried in Village cemetery. - p 309. [1]
He is listed in Spooners Company, 3rd. Reg., 2nd. Brigade, 7th Div. of the Militia of the Comm. of MA. Buried in the Village Cemetery of Petersham MA. He is listed as Sargent Major. An application for a military headstone was made on 23 June 1927 by Mrs. Clarence R. Amidon of Petersham, MA. This application lists his death as 12 Oct 1797.[2]

Note that other sources say he was promoted to Major.
Major Joseph Negus, a soldier of the Revolutionary War, was at
Bennington, Lake George, and was made Major by Gov. Samuel
