Howard Lindsay was a writer and actor, known for The Sound of Music (1965), Arsenic and Old Lace (1943), and Swing Time (1936).
He won the 1946 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the play "State of the Union".[1] Later, he won a special Tony Award in 1959 for his writing collaborations with Russel Crouse.[2]
Born Herman Siegmund Nelke in 1889 in Waterford, NY. He was married twice; 1) Maria Virginia Fralich (m. 1929-1925), and 2) Dorothy Stickney (m. 1927-his death). He passed away in 1968.
