George Waldemar Nelson was born 22 February 1879[1] in New York, United States, to Anders Magnus Nelson (abt.1839-) and his wife, Anna Lovisa Johannesdotter (1841-abt.1928), who were married about 1882 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.[2]

In 1920 the family lived in Bergen, New Jersey, where George worked as a bank manager.[3][4]
He was also known as George Washington Nelson, as entered in the attached news clipping of his obituary. His last address was 378 Teaneck Road, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The flag at the village hall was flown at half staff.
Nelson was a member of the Elks Lodge, Masonic Club, Library Board of Trustees, was once president of the Board of Education, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of numerous commissions, according to his obituary.
He was survived by his wife, Ethiel I., and three sons, Alfred, Ozzie, and Donald.
George died at the age of 49 on 20 Mar 1927 at The New York Hospital in Manhattan, New York, after an illness of several months, and he was buried 23 March 1927 in New York Bay Cemetery.[5] in Bayview-New York Bay Cemetery, Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey.[6]
