Elias Newman, the oldest of Alexander's children, died in Essex county ; his will, of record at Tappahannock, Virginia, was proven in 1750, and names his wife Ann and the following children :
1. Thomas, the oldest child, a minor in 1748, of age in 1752.
2. Elias, d. in 1759; unmarried.
3. Reuben.
4. James.
5. Alexander.
6. Mary Ann.
7. William.
8. George, bom 1747.

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I JOHN WILSON Son of HENRY WILSON of the County of RICHMOND deceased do for the Natural Love and affection I have to my loving Cousen ELIAS NEWMAN of the County of Essex Executor of the Last Will and Testament of my Aunt ELIZABETH MOSELEY of the aforesaid County of Essex deced and for diverse other considerations have forever quit claimfd and by these presents do for me my heirs Release unto my aforesaid Cousin ELIAS NEWMAN Executr. as aforesaid his heirs all my Estate right whatsoever which I the said JOHN WILSON now hath or that I my heirs may at any time hereafter have or Claim of, in or out of the Estate of the aforesaid ELIZABETH MOSELEY deced from the aforesaid ELIAS NEWMAN Executr. but that I the said JOHN WILSON my heirs shall be thereof and of every part and parcel thereof from hence forth utterly barred and excluded forever by these presents. "Essex Will Book 8 page 318, 6 Jan 1748, proved 17 Apr 1750: Will of Elias Newman. Wife Ann to receive all slaves and goods not otherwise bestowed. To son Thos Newman: all land after death of mother; also bed, 3 ewes and lambs. To son Elias: slave boy, riding horse with equipment, ring. To sons Reubin, James and Alexander: each £10, plus bed and equipment. To daughter Mary Ann: two slaves (to go to Wm and Geo if she dies w/o issue). To sons Williams and George: each a slave ( to Mary Ann if they die without issue). Executrix is Ann Newman. Inventory of estate file Book 8 page 322.
The DAR library in Washington DC has a transcript of a Bible record which comes from the family of Elias. It provides some birth, marriage and death dates running for a couple of generations, but mainly birth dates of Elias’ children: Death of Elias Newman is stated as 10 Mar 1750. Children: Martha b. 15 Mar 1721 d. 28 Oct 1733 Thomas b. 6 Sep 1725 d. 20 Jan 1777 Elias b. 30 Aug 1727 d.
